- 작가노트

통제하지 않는다.
완벽하려 하지 않는다.
몸을 도구 삼아 내 안에 있는 곧지 않은 선을 캔버스로 흘려보낸다.
불안정한 불완전함이 드러난다.
드러난 불완전함을 감싸 안는다.
친절하고 따뜻하게 감싸 안는다.
감싸 안은 불완전함이 완전함으로 나아간다.

- 전시설명

우리가 수용할 수 있는 경계는 우리 자유의 경계이다. 작가는 ‘수용(받아들임)’이라는 주제를 통해 자유, 곧 경계의 확장을 향해 나아간다. ‘받아들임’의 한 과정으로서 내적 경험을
표현하고 이 과정을 통해 내면을 완성해 간다. 몸과 캔버스라는 도구를 통해 내면을 표현하고, 표현하는 과정과 이를 체험하는 과정을 통해 ‘알아차림’을 경험한다. 동시에 틀을 드러
내어 불완전함을 보여준다. 불완전함은 없애야 할 문젯거리가 아닌 존재의 자연스러운 부분이다. 작가는 불완전함을 자연스럽게 드러내고 받아들이면서, 자신의 존재와 깊은 욕구를
알아차리고 온전한 자유를 발견하려 한다.

- Artist Statement

I don’t try to control.
I don’t try to be perfect.
I utilize my body to flow the lines that are not straight to the canvas.
The unstable incompleteness is revealed.
I embrace the revealed imperfection.
I embrace it kindly and warmly.
The incompleteness I embraced becomes completeness.

- About the Exhibition

The boundary we may accept is the boundary of our freedom. The artist pursues the expansion of freedom or boundary, through the theme of ‘acceptance’. As a process of ‘acceptance’, she expresses her inner experiences, and through this process, she completes her inner self. She expresses her inner self through her body and canvas, which are her own tools. Through the procedure of expression and experiencing this, she experiences ‘awareness’. Simultaneously, she shows the incompleteness by exposing frames. Incompleteness is not a problem that should be removed. It is a natural part of all existences. The artist shows the imperfection naturally and she accepts it. Through the process, she tries to aware her existence and her deep desire and discover her own complete freedom.

김민지는 2012년 국립안동대학교 식품영양학과를 중퇴한 후 본격적으로 작품 활동을 하고 있다. 2018년 인사아트센터에서 첫 개인전 < 알아차림의 체험 From Awareness To Acceptance >을 개최했다. 2019년 영국 런던 사치 갤러리(Saatchi Gallery)에서 진행된 < START Art Fair 2019 >에 참여했으며, < 앙데팡당 2019 KOREA >에서 수상하기도 했다. 2020년 9월 CICA미술관에서 전시가 예정되어 있다.
