다비드 베네딕트 베흐트David Benedikt Wirth (1988년 독일 풀다 출생)
다비드 베네딕트 베흐트는 뒤셀도르프 쿤스트아카데미에서 학사와 석사를 모두 에버하르트 하베코스트에게 사사했다. 개인전으로 ≪절≫(JVDW 스페이스,뒤셀도르프,2022), ≪모든 색은 어둠 속에서 만난다≫(살로나 밴드,보훔,2019), ≪토템≫(아틀리에 슐로스 야거호프,뒤셀도르프, 2018) 등을 개최했고 K29(뒤셀도르프), 엔터 아트 파운데이션(베를린), 웰쿤스트짐머(뒤셀도르프)와 같은 기관의 기획전에 참여했다. 인간, 사회, 문화, 자연, 그리고 역사에 대한 질문을 던지는 작업을 하는 작가는 이번 전시에서 스페인의 동굴 벽화에서 영감을 받아 붉은 황토와 같은 정통 기법과 안료를 사용하여 제작된 작품과 열화상 카메라로 찍은 사진을 묘사한 작품을 통해 인류 문화의 기원을 연구하는 동시에 통상적인 시선에 의문을 제기한다.
David Benedikt Wirth (b.1988 in Fulda, Germany)
David Benedikt Wirth graduated from his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf in the class of Eberhard Havekost. His recent solo exhibitions include Temple (JVDW space, Düsseldorf, 2022), All Colors Will Agree in the Dark (Salonabend, Bochum, 2019), Totem (Atelier Schloss Jagerhof, Düsseldorf, 2018), etc., and participated in special exhibitions organized by such institutions like K29 (Düsseldorf), Enter Art Foundation (Berlin), and Weltkunstzimmer (Düsseldorf). He raises questions about humanity, society, culture, nature, and history. In this exhibition, inspired by Spanish cave paintings, he depicts the origins of human culture by using pigments like red ocher with the traditional art techniques, and doubts the conventional ways of seeing through the photographs taken by thermal imaging cameras.

이진석Jinseok Lee (1991년 평택 출생)
한국에서 태어나 성장한 이진석은 2013년 독일로 건너가 뒤셀도르프 쿤스트아카데미에 입학했다. 에버하르트 하베코스트에게 사사하였고, 석사과정에서 교환프로그램을 통해 덴마크 코펜하겐에 위치한 덴마크 왕립미술원에서 1년간 공부했다. 2022 카셀도큐멘타 15 기간에 환경위기에 대한 전시를 공동기획, 참여했다. 그 외 갤러리퍼페투엘(프랑크푸르트),타페텐베어크(라이프치히),프리드리히+에버트(부퍼탈),라이트하우스(베를린)과 같은 기관에서 기획한 전시에 참여했으며 독일 환경부가 그의 작품을 소장하고 있다. 인간은 신체적, 정신적 상처에 인해 그 자신의 ‘취약성이 쉽게 노출된다’는 사실을 인지하고 이를 확장하여 ‘모든 생명체에 적용될 수 있는 취약성’에 대해 이야기한다. 또한 이러한 확장된 인지가 ‘우리 인간 세계에 드러나고 있다.’ 있음을 말한다. 숯, 흙, 지푸라기, 식물 등의 자연재료를 통해 철학적 접근을 시도하며, 이번 전시에서 소원과 욕망 그리고 잃어버림과 소실이라는 관계성을 작품에서 은유적으로 표현하고 있다.
Jinseok Lee (b.1991 in Pyeongtaek)
Born and raised in Korea, Jinseok Lee moved to Germany in 2013. He entered Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf, and studied in the class of Eberhard Havekost. Applied for an exchange program in his master’s program, he went to Royal Danish Academy of Fine Art in Copenhagen, Denmark, for one year, to take the master’s education in the School of Conceptual and Contextual Practices. He pays attentions to the fact that ‘human beings are easily exposed to vulnerability due to physical and mental wounds’ and shows ‘the weakness of all living things that is revealed in human world’. In 2022, he co-organized and participated in the exhibition on the issue of environmental crisis at Documenta 15 in Kassel. He also had special exhibitions at Gallery Perpetuel (Frankfurt), Tapetenwek (Leipzig), Friedrich + Ebert Galerie for Contemporary Art (Wuppertal), and LITE-HAUS Galerie + Projektraum (Berlin), and his work is owned by German Ministry of Environment.

클라라 베르니히Klara Virnich (1991년 독일 뮌헨글라트바흐 출생)
클라라 베르니히는 뒤셀도르프 쿤스트아카데미에서 에버하르트 하베코스트와 도미니크 곤잘레스 포에스터에게 사사했다. 동아시아의 수묵화와 판화, 한국의 호랑이 이미지에서도 영감을 받은 작가는 의식적으로 텍스트를 참조하며 상상 혹은 직접 경험한 세계를 회화와 퍼포먼스로 다룬다. 쿤스터버아인-말카스턴(뒤셀도르프), 갤러리 플랜디(뒤셀도르프), K29(뒤셀도르프)외 여러 장소에서 퍼포먼스를 진행했으며 ES365(뒤셀도르프), 아틀리에 스콜라스 예거호프(뒤셀도르프), 트랜스 팝 갤러리(교토) 등의 기획전에 참여했다. 작가는 여성성, 피, 식물뿐만 아니라 욕망과 절망을 통해 아름다움을 그려내는데, 이는 이번 전시에서 소개되는 여성 수채화 시리즈에 잘 나타난다.
Klara Virnich (b. 1991 in Mönchengladbach, Germany)
Klara Virnich studied at Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf in the class of Eberhard Havekost and Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster. Inspired by East Asian ink painting and printmaking, as well as by the image of Korean tiger, she consciously refers to the text to create painting and performance focusing on the imaginative world or directly experienced world. She had several performances at Künstlerverein-Malkasten (Düsseldorf), Galerie Plan.d. (Düsseldorf), K29 (Düsseldorf), and many other places, and participated in special exhibitions at ES365 (Düsseldorf), Atelier Schloss Jägerhof e.V (Düsseldorf), Trance Pop Gallery (Kyoto), etc. She presents beauty not only through femininity, blood and plants, but also with desire and despair. These are well depicted in the series of watercolor painting in this exhibition.

소피 울리히 Sophie Ullrich (1990년 스위스 제네바 출생)
스위스 제네바에서 태어나고 자란 소피 울리히는 2011년 독일 뒤셀도르프 쿤스트아카데미에 입학해 학사와 석사과정을 졸업했다. ≪오늘은 와이파이 없음≫(엘빈 드레베스 갤러리,함부르크,2022), 《반짝임으로부터 멀리》(더 캐빈, 로스앤젤레스,2022), ≪일상 팟캐스트≫(노스바움 레딩,룩셈부르크,2021), 《그녀의 영역을 내려다보는 지루한 여왕》(튜브 컬쳐 홀, 밀라노,2021) 등 유럽의 여러 도시와 미국에서 수차례의 개인전을 개최했다. 갤러리 드로스테(베를린), 노스바움 레딩 갤러리(룩셈부르크), 골레스타니 갤러리(뒤셀도르프)등의 기획전에 참여했다. 소피 울리히는 벨기에 만화와 개념미술에서 영향을 받았으며 얼굴 없는 인물 드로잉을 일상 사물과 콜라주하며 감정을 시각화하는 작업을 한다. 이번 전시에서 새롭게 선보이는 작가의 신작들은 일상에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 평범한 사물들은 추상적이면서도 다소 파괴적인 요소들과 결합되며 유머러스한 충동을 자아낸다.
Sophie Ullrich (b. 1990 in Geneva, Switzerland)
Born and raised in Geneva, Switzerland, Sophie Ullrich entered Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf, Germany, in 2011, and completed bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She had several solo exhibitions including No Wlan Today (Evelyn Drewes Galerie, Hamburg, 2022), Stay Away from Glitter (the Cabin, Los Angeles, 2022), Daily History Podcast (Nosbaum Reding, Luxembourg), Bored Queen Overlooking Her Fields, (Tube culture hall, Milano, 2021), etc. She also participated in special exhibitions at Galerie Droste (Berlin), Nosbaum Reding Gallery (Luxembourg), Golestani Gallery (Düsseldorf), etc. She is influenced by Belgian cartoons and conceptual art, and visualizes emotions through collages assembled with drawings of faceless human figures and everyday objects. She creates humorous impulse in this exhibition with her new works combining ordinary objects that are common in life with abstract and destructive elements.
